Tast2010 Diamond Stitch

This is a picture of the whole sample - I really liked this stitch and I think it has potential for lots of different applications.

I worked the sample on variagated even weave fabric using a variety of threads and applied coloured hessian and paper.

There are details below

This is a detail -I worked the stitch first of all in lines using a variagated linen thread - really pleased with the results and think there are opportunities to add beads and/or sequins as other people have done.
The rusty perle thread was used to show the stitch used as a 'spot' stitch regular and first and then more hap-hazard as it trailed across the top of the hessian
This is a detail of the textured part - I laid the hessian on the background and threaded through some thick shiny gold and then used the diamond stitchto couch down the gold - really like the thick braided effect that I got.
This could be further embellished with diamond stitch worked in very fine thread
maybe french knots and beads to give it a crunchy texture.
I got this idea from Sara - thanks
Sara has done a lovely piece on paper and I have used it as an insertion stitch to hold the pieces together rather than surface decoration but either way looks good
Sorry to have twittered on for so long but I liked this sample and will do some more work on it - haven't tried the circular version or the layered version yet.
Off to try week 2 now.
Hello Sharon and all
I have managed to make a start on this stitch sampler and will upload and fill in details later today when I get it photographed but I must say that I really liked the stitch and thought it has lots of possibilities.
Speak to you again later!!!
